Chemical
reaction dynamics is one of the most prominent frontiers in
modern chemistry, which uses moderm physical/chemical analytical
methods and instruments,such as laser,ultrahigh vacumn,opto-electrical
detection instruments and high performance computers,to explore
the elemantry chemical reaction processes and mechanisms in
different phase of matter,such as gaseous,condensed phase, interface
system and so on,and those in diffrent molecular systems,such
as single molecule, nanoclusters and other aggregation,with
atomic and molecular detail. The State
Key Laboratory of Molecular Reaction Dynamics (MRDLAB) was
established in 1987, with the financial support from the State
Planning Commission of China. Now all the state key laboratories
are under the supervision of the Ministry
of Science And Technology (MOST). MRDLAB has two separate
laboratories, each attached to one of the following two institutes
of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS),
namely, the
Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics and Institute
of Chemistry at Beijing. Professor Yuan T. Lee, the 1986
Nobel laureate, has been the Honorary director of MRDLAB.
There are diffrent research insterests in our two laboratories
of MRDLAB,but we are closely related to each other. The main
purpose is to study chemical reaction dynamics,processes and
mechanisms,at the atomic and molecular level. We also aim
to develope modern chemical and physical analytical methods,such
as new techniques using laser spectroscopy and mass spectroscopy.
Since CAS is not only a research institution,
but also a key educational provider in the National postgraduate
education system. MRDLAB is also an educational laboratory,aims
to foster young talents in key fields of physical chemistry
and chemical physics.
